The New York Rangers (21-8-4) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (21-9-4) by the score of 4-2, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...sort of fun being a Rangers fan right now, huh?

...surprised to see the Rangers come out as flat as they did, but their forecheck really took over in the second and third period and, in my opinion, dominated the Flyers.

...with all due respect to Biron, there is no 1 and 1a in goal. Hank is in a class of his own.

...Bickel the playmaker?

...ladies and gentleman, your NHL leading goal scorer Marian Gaborik.

...is there anything Stepan can't do?

...amazing Garden crowd tonight. Loved the "Flyers Suck" chant. But what was up with the boos every time Jagr touched the puck?

...guess that goal sparked Dubinsky. He was all over the ice tonight.

...Erixon had a rude welcome to the Rangers/Flyers rivalry as the Flyers were being real physical with him.

...the points and + rating have been great for Del Zotto, but I am loving the snarl to his game this season.

...Fedotenko goal clinches Avery being waived after roster freeze.

...very impressed with ability of Callahan-Richards-Hagelin to shut down Flyers top line. Nice to see them finally find some offensive chemistry in the third period as well.

...while Stralman's assist on the Gaborik goal was pretty sweet I thought his hip check in the first period was more impressive. Didn't think he had that in him.

...loved McD jumping into the offensive zone every chance he had.

...score would have been even worse if the Rangers could hit the net.

...oh yeah, first place in the Atlantic baby!!!!

...off for the weekend then Islanders back at MSG on Monday.

philly will not beat the ny rangers and as far as jagr goes he should go back to russia because he made a big mistake of leaving the ny rangers

@thenyrblog only thing I didn't agree with in your recap was that #NYR play picked up after Stralman's big hipcheck not in just in 2nd ;)

So nice having the greatest goaltender in the world. And what a break to have players like Bickle and Stalman and Erixon step in and be effective.

Was surprised by the Jag boos too, in the UK at a football match when an ex-player returns they usually get a standing ovation, and then boo the shit out of them as soon as the whistle blows :)

Anyone else thinking Bickel and Emminger could be a real mean pairing?

@skev303 If Bickel keeps this up he could find himself staying in the line-up even when guys start getting healthy. Rangers haven't had real toughness on the Blueline in a decade.

@skev303 that pairing would definitely have a lot of snarl to it but since emi is out another 8 weeks its not something to consider just yet

I was kinda shocked as well to hear all the booing at Jags. I didnt expect that. I think if he was on any other team other than Philly or lets say Pitts. That wouldnt have happened. Totally pumped about this team though. Very excited.

@Beckfan5 Dubi was all over the ice, had an assist and YES - should have gotten one of the 3 stars last night. At least his teammates knew last night and gave him the Broadway hat.

@sureshore That smelly hat went to Lundqvist.

@Beckfan5 I was talking about the game where he DIDN'T get the 3rd star (against the Islanders). Check back and see that he got that hat and was the one to present it to Lundqvist after the win over the Flyers

BTW, why was Dubinsky 3rd star of the game tonight?

Ah, that's right, he scored a goal last game.

That was definitely a fun game to be at... Plus sitting in the new west balcony didnt hurt either. Other than the first period I really have nothing negative to say about the Rangers game. It still is early in the season but we seem to be doing almost everything right... hopefully we can stay consistent as the season progresses.

I think Stepan is going to be a very nice player. I love how he slows the game down to his speed (a la Nylander) and people like to compare him to Drury which I think is fair but I feel that Stepan has more offensive upside but Drury was a better grinder/defender.

Fedotenko scored his first goal in weeks and the first thing you think of is that Avery is a goner?

What is Rupp good for?

Bickel, minus the 4 assists, looks good so far. The Rangers haven't had this much snarl on the blue line since Purinton.

Richards looks to be in a bit of a slump. Cant hit the net (unless he's using Dubinsky's sticks?) and isnt winning many faceoffs either.

McDonagh is their best offensive defenseman.

Michiletti tonight, "how do ya think Hagelin likes being thrown into this Rangers/Flyers rivalry?"Joe, Hagelin played in the game in Phillthy back in late November and even scored his first NHL goal in that game.

It's a good thing Phillty has Bryz-by-myglov signed for 8 more seasons.
