Dubinsky: It's Been A Struggle for Me

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

dubisfirstPat Leonard at the Daily News takes a look at the offensive struggles of Brandon Dubinsky this season. And has this quote from the snake bit winger...

"It's been a bit of a struggle for me obviously, but I've been pretty conscientious about how I've been playing, trying to learn from the mistakes I make, trying to build on the good things that I do," Dubinsky said. "As soon as I get going, you'll look back and (this) six weeks, seven weeks, it's just (going to be) a small blip on the screen. That's the way I've got to approach it mentally."

...i've got to give credit to Torts for sticking with Dubi. He's tried everything to get him out of this funk from dropping him to the fouth line to keeping him on the power play. But the next move might have to be the press box.

...i thought Dubi had a solid game Saturday night so hopefully it's something to build off of. I've been impressed that through all these early season struggles, for the most part, he hasn't let it effect the rest of his game.

Heres the thing... Dubi isnt playing poorly. Hes doing everything else right, except getting on the score sheet. That counts for something.

That being said, as Beckfan5 says, below, hes paid too much money. He was never going to be a top 6 guy... and anyone who thought so is crazy. He could fill-in in the top 6 if needed, but hes a role player making way more $$ than he should because he looked good on a rebuilding team a couple seasons ago.

@Chris_in_MA Or because he "lead the team in scoring" last season.

But people seem to forget that Callahan and Gaborik both missed 18+ games.

Dubinsky never had the skill to be paid $4 million per season. Just because the guy had a career high in goals last season shouldn't have necessarily warranted that type of money.

Look at the guys skill and ability, or lack thereof. He makes too many blind passes, he losses the puck too often, looses his balance way too easily, misses the net with his shot more than he hits it, I dont know if he's ever won a fight and when he does control the puck in the offensive zone it's with his back to the goalie most of the time.

Tell me, what is the difference between Dubinsky's style of play and Boyle's?

@thenyrblog I think the media is being too light on this guy. That includes Sam and Joe. He should be scratched to think about it!
