"If the Rangers can avoid half the injuries they suffered last season, not only will they be a lock for the playoffs, but they'll contend for the Atlantic Division. They have a solid group of young defensemen who showed improvement throughout last season and a world-class goaltender in Henrik Lundqvist there to cover up any mistakes.
Consistency from the offense will be key. If the Rangers have it, they could find themselves in the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2008."
...i hate it when the so-called experts predict good things for the Rangers. It's always a jinx.
Lozo feels that Wojtek Wolski will likely end up on the top line with Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik, although he thinks Mats Zuccarello could get a look also.
...knowing Torts by the end of the season pretty much every winger on the Rangers will have skated with those two.
Lozo is also expecting a big year from Artem Anisimov.
I think of last year watching this team thinking "this is the best Rangers team since 94. Now we have that team, one year older and one Brad Richards closer to the cup. I'm so excited to get this going.
And Ani is my favorite ranger outside of Hank. I hope he has a big year too but you can't expect much more than 20 goals
I've heard Torts during post game and other times say "you guys make such a big deal out of it" regarding changing lines around and he asserts that it is simply not a big deal and I agree with him. While there is something to be said for allowing time for chemistry to develop -- and I think Avery could have been given more time w Gaborik given his decent performance w our would-be sniper -- the players have to understand their role, their responsibilities, on whatever line they play. To say Wolski will end up on the top line is a little redundant because we will see every left-winger play w Richie and Gaby.
I'm also expecting a big year out of Anisimov, in fact, each year better than the last. I think he has pretty great potential.
I've been looking at predictions by experts and novices alike and everybody seems to have the Rangers making the playoffs and many of them seem to have the Rangers finishing about 6th. I'm not too concerned with where they finish, but I expect them to make the playoffs. However, I think it would be great for their confidence if they don't just squeeze in like last year. It would be great to be somewhat assured of a playoff berth before the last several games.
Kevin, I don't think Lozo is predicting anything exceptionally good for the Rangers. Yes, they should make the playoffs. No jinx.
Yes, I have big expectations and big hopes every year.
@AG_Blue Would rather hear Lozo say they stink and will end up in last place. They seem to play better when expectations are low. Very similar to the New York Football Giants.
@KevinDeLury , yeah, I hear you. Of course we have plenty of so-called "experts" that don't give the Rangers too much credence or respect. I'm not too superstitious with that kind of stuff, but I do like it when my team(s) make the experts eat their words.
