Erixon Plays Two-Way Game, McIlrath the Protector, Chatting with Bourque & Thomas Gets an "A"

Written by Kevin DeLury on .

erixonjerseyIn a feature on prospects with NHL lineage, Ryan Kennedy at The Hockey News has this quote from Tim Erixon on just wanting a shot with the Rangers...

"I think I can play in both ends, I play a two-way game," he said. "I'll play wherever the coach needs me."

On the trade to the Rangers...

"It was a big surprise, but it feels great, what with my dad playing for them," Tim said. "I was two years old when we moved back to Sweden. I've visited a few times, but it's a big city and quite a bit different from what I'm used to back home."

...lots of Erixon news floating around the last couple of days. Can't wait to watch the kid at Traverse.

Speaking of talented defensive prospects, Gordie Clark tells Blueshirt Banter this about Dylan McIlrath...

"He makes sure that nothing happens to anybody out there, he takes care of his teammates," Clark said. "I've said a million times, we made sure he had the mobility for his size and he ended up being a shut down defender for his team. His fights were all for the right reason, they weren't just 'oh let's go out there and fight,' they were all to protect a teammate or when someone was trying to take advantage of a teammate or himself."

...i'm pretty sure once McIlrath laces them up for the Rangers the days of Lundqvist getting run are over.

In other prospect news, Ryan Bourque will participate in a Rangers live chat tomorrow at 1pm at Blueshirts United.

Bourque will be participating in the Traverse City Tournament from Sept. 10 - 14 which you can read more about here.

And finally on the prospect front, Christian Thomas will be wearing an "A" for the Oshawa Generals this season (via The Prospect Park). That is if he isn't playing for the Rangers this season.

I know everyone is dying to see Traverse City but how serious should it be taken? If a player does well or doesn't do well. I just think the added hype is that we will be able to watch it for the first time. Other than that I don't see how this is more important than the WC, WJC. or even playing for the Whale.

@KingBadaBing , it should be enjoyed, `bing. take it as serious as you like, i think it's going to be fun.

otherwise, you're absolutely right, it is not "more important than the WC, WJC. or even playing for the Whale."

@KingBadaBing I think it's just the idea of seeing all our prospects playing together and envisioning the future of this franchise.

@KevinDeLury , wish we could see Kreider ...

but I think I'll forget all about him once I'm watching Thomas, Hagelin, Erixon and McIlrath. Pretty curious about Miller, Yogan, and Bourque too ...
