Drury says his goal is to be back for the playoffs. He has skated lightly the last two days.
Andrew Gross reports that Chris Drury is on the ice with teammates for this first time since knee surgery in February.
Matt Gilroy is also on the ice meaning he is the likely scratch on defense tonight vs. Boston.
...i know most Rangers fans aren't the biggest Drury supporters, but I'm glad to see him skating again. And as I've been saying to anyone who will listen if the Rangers make the playoffs and Drury gets healthy in time I can see him making some contributions during the second season.
No way i'd rather have EC out there instead of Drury come playoff time. Even if he just came on the ice for D-faceoffs, and left when the puck gets cleared, he's way more valuable than EC.
I don't see him being an automatic start if available in the playoffs. But Torts could spot start him in games he feels some additional veteran presence is needed. Plus Drury brings much more to the table in the playoffs than EC where there will be, as CinciMike says, no shootouts.
who cares about drury. it is a non issue. there is only one thing on the table when it comes to the rangers. they cannot afford to lose even one more game and expect to make the playoffs. 23 games played = 1) not in game shape and 2) no timing whatsoever. why would we want him in any playoff games (if we make the playoffs)?
Agreed, Kevin. Look at what at how much he did for the USA team in the olympics. He still has value. No shootouts in the playoffs, so i'd take Drury over EC.
