As you know the NHL has decided to go for another gimmick and change it's format for choosing the players for the All Star game to a playground type format. However, fan voting for the starting lineup has remained the same and actually started yesterday. As always, the NHL allows for some write-in candidates that weren't selected to be on the initial ballot (Gaborik, Staal and Lundqvist are on the ballot for the Rangers).
I've seen a number of other fan blogs have started write-in campaigns for some of their lesser known players who may deserve an all star nod or others as just a joke.
So I was thinking, with Gary Bettman continuing to ruin the great game of hockey, what better way to get back at him than getting Sean Avery in the starting lineup at the All Star game.
The first thing I need for everyone to do is go to NHL.com and write-in as many votes as possible for Avery (NHL limits you to 30 times a day). Next tweet, Facebook, e-mail and call every Ranger fan you know asking for them to do the same.
I'll be contacting all the beat writers to see if I can get them to give the write-in campaign some publicity.
How awesome would it be if we could make a real run at ruining Bettman's year by getting Avery on the team.
Oh yeah, don't forget to vote for the Rangers other All Star nominees.
